Exchange 2013 TransportRoles\Data\Temp filling up disk

$

I have a single multi-role Exchange 2013 server and it would appear that it's not properly maintaining the temp files for the transport service.  I still have all those folder locations at their default and the problem folder is c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Temp

I never had a problem with this in Exchange 2007 but I am used to running a PowerShell script nightly to clean up the IIS log files.  Do I need to do something similar for this temp folder?  Is there a setting I can adjust so that Exchange will limit the size of this folder itself?  If I stop the transport service and delete the files here will I lose anything?

Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Pipeline Tracing Enabled, Original.EML / Routing.EML / SMTP.EML not show some times.

Hi All,

I had enabled Pipeline Tracing on both my Mailbox 2013 (DAG).

Noticed some times the message log in the pipeline trace folder doesn't show all 3 EML files in it.

Under what circumstance Original.EML is not logged, but Routing.EML / SMTP.EML is logged, or vice versa?

Hope someone can help me on this.

Thanks and Regards,

Mailbox Server Role Services not running: MSExchangeDelivery

Running Exchange 2013 CU7 on Server 2012R2.

Ive been working on this project on and off for the last few months, as I am the only IT guy, and a new office construction at my company has had me running cable, moving offices, workstations, and phones.

This install of Exchange was working fine up until about a week ago. When I came back to finish its setup, I noticed that I was not able to send email internally anymore. Connecting to OWA says the message was sent, but it never arrives. After some more investigation, it turns out the MSExchageDelivery service will not run.

Checking on this service, it indicates that it is starting/stopping, but never getting to the running stage. I have tried everything that I can think of, including uninstalling and re-installing the software. I have scoured the internet looking for solutions, but not finding one that will take care of the problem.

Looking in the event viewer under Windows Logs -> Application I do see alot of information about MSExchangeTransportDelivery. Seems to be looping through a set of events....

1. Error MSExchangeTransportDelivery Failed to start listening (Error: 10048). Binding: 0.0.0.0:475

2. Error MSExchangeTransportDelivery This address is already in use. Binding: 0.0.0.0:475.

3. Error MSExchangeTransportDelivery Inbound direct trust authentication failed for certificate %1. The source IP address of the server that tried to authenticate to Microsfot Exchage is [%2]. Make sure EdgeSync is running properly.

Error 550 5.7.0 Relay Access Denied in Server 2013 Enterprise

Good evening everyone.

When emails are sent from outside of our domain, to our domain; the following message is returned:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

     email

Technical details of permanent failure

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain  by mail messaging microsoft

The error that the other server returned was:

550 5.7.0 Relay Access Denied

It is affecting all users.

I have scoured the net and tried many solutions.  I have disabled both the anti-spam software and Symantec.

I am at a loss.  I am willing to try a reconfigure that doesn't require an outside relay or try and fix this issue but the system has been down for the organization for too long.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you

Meeting Request arrives as blank mail

Hi,

we have a strange problem here. We have a user with his main e-mail addresse user@corp.com.

This user also has a Alias address, user.name@corp.com

If an external user sends an appointment request to the main address, they only receive a blank message:

If the external users sends it to the Alias address, the meeting requests shows up correctly.:

Any hint on this?

Exchange Mailflow Rule (Office 365); Signature is not placed Correctly in reply's to mail and is placed in the bottom of the message instead of immediately after your response.

Is there a way to change the placement of the Signature that the MailFlow Rule generates?  Right now it is placing it at the end of the e-mail chain instead of at the end of the client response.

Sending Messages Externally

I have a client that has a need for automatic failover of send connectors. The client currently has a send connector that resolves to a smart host and sends to the internet. I need to setup a way that if the smarthost goes down the mail will automatically route directly to the internet. I have attempted to setup another send connector with a higher cost and I have it set to route via MX, But when I simulate failure of the smarthost and send messages they get stuck in the smarthost queue.

I am looking for options to resolve this request. Thanks in advance for your help!

User Monitoring / Mailbox Copy

$

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a way to keep a copy of users mailbox data even if/when items are deleted.

Basically, we need to monitor and keep records of all activity on a mailbox due to some potential fallout in the future. We need to be able to access mail sent and received (and if possible, calendar, contacts, tasks) - and be able to access the data even if the user deletes it (which is a high possibility)

We're currently running Exchange Online P1 through O365, your help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Hello all,

We are migrating few users from one exchange domain to another and we have an annoying problem, let me first give the setup details

New Domain: Abc.com (Exchange 2013)

Old domain: xyz.com(Exchange 2010)

the new exchange server is acting as an external relay to the old domain, the users who have been migrated to the new exchange server have a strange problem, when they send email to anyone in xyz.com, the outlook modifies the email address to @abc.com and eventually receives a non delivery notice because that mailbox does not exist eg if sally@abc.com sends an email to john@xyz.com, outlook modifies the email address to john@abc.com. The users do not have any issuse sending emails to other external domains such as @gmail.com or anything. any suggestion?

Message Recall Notification

Hello All,

Is there any feature in outlook 2007 sp3 or exchange server 2013 U2 that notify the recipient when somebody recall an email sent to to him,,

since i am facing an issue in my organization caused by ((message recall feature )) so that there isNO proof that if the recipient has deleted a business  email sent to him and claims that there is no mail sent to himOR the sender side has recalled the email and did not reach the recipient specially the recalled mail still in the Sent Items of the sender.

so i am wondering if there a solution that notifies the recipient that somebody recalled an email sent to himOR the recalled mail must be removed from the Sent Items on the sender side.

Regards.

Exchange 2013: Domain security & Outbound proxy internal send connector

$

Hi!

I just tried to configure domain security in Exchange 2013 in a test environment: two messaging organizations, each running a dedicated client access role and a mailbox server role.

Domain security seems to be configured correctly - recipients running Outlook get that additional icon which says that the email 'was received securely'. In that scenario the mailbox server is sending the mail directly to the recipient domain. So no proxying via the local client access server takes place.

When I try to use the domain local CAS as proxy (Set-SendConnector -FrontendProxyEnabled $true) the mail stays in the mail queue. The LastError on the queue states: '... 451 4.7.3 The admin has temporarily disallowed this secure domain...'. The protocol log of the send connector states: 'Message to secure domain 'dom1.test' on send connector 'Outbound Proxy Internal Send Connector' failed because DomainSecureEnabled was set to false.'

I have no clue where that internal send connector could be configured. Or where the 'Outbound Proxy Internal Send Connector' can be seen.

Or is domain security just supported without using the frontend proxy?

Many thanks in advance!

Greetings,

Nils

Microsoft Exchange Anti Spam Update

I installed the Microsoft Exchange Server Standard Anti Spam Filter update V3.3.14422.478 on the 5th of January, 2015 and after a required reboot it appears as though many users,  including myself are no longer receiving e-mails with attachments.  It is Exchange Server standard 2010, any ideas where I can start to trouble shoot?  There were other updates installed on that date but they were for the windows server and IE 11, one for malicious software removal.

Internal clients can't send nor rcv internally

I have an Ex2k13 setup as :

Win2012 R2 DC

Win2012 R2 + Ex2k13 act as CAS and MBX server

now i promoted a new Ex2k13 node to configure DAG between them , but once the installation of the new exchange finished and before doing any settings related to DAG or any send/rcv connector , i started receiving complains about some internal users can't send/rcv internally although the mailbox is connected ,

at first i checked queue and i found many emails in the shadow queue , although it shudn't be related to the problem but i disabled it then i had to stop all transport services and other exchange services in the new Exchange node and then the users started to send / rcv normally !

what cud be the reason ? and how to avoid it ?

Exchange 2010 Edge Transport with TMG and Exchange 2010/2013 on premises.

So I have a really wierd issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Internally we have a 2010/2013 org with:

Exchange 2010 - 2x CAS&HT , 2xMBX, 2xEdge Exchange 2013 - 2x CAS, 2xMBX

I am trying to subscribe my Edge Transport servers, that also run TMG firewall, to the Exchange org after installing Exchange 2013, so that I can send email out through Exchange 2013. However, I cannot telnet on port 25 from one of my 2013 Mailbox Servers to the Edge Transport. This works:

2013MX1 to EDGETMG02 2013MX2 to EDGETMG01 2013MX2 to EDGETMG02

However, if I telnet on port 25 from 2013MX1 to EDGETMG01 then I get an error 421 4.3.2 Service Not Available. What does this mean, and what can I do to fix this? At the moment email just queues up on Exchange 2013 without any route out to the internet.

Edit:

Exchange 2013 servers are all SP1 CU6 Exchange 2010 servers are all SP3 RU4

S/MIME in Outlook Web App 2013

$

I have followed the steps on how to enable S/MIME in OWA, I have downloaded and install the controls into IE, I can see the menu options to sign or encrypt, but if I try to sign an email I receive a message stating "No certificate was found.  If you have a smart card-based certificate, insert the card and try again.".  My SC is in the reader and I used it to log into webmail, but I am never able to tell it which certificate to choose.

Did I miss something in my server configuration?

I have tried this on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

I have not loaded Outlook onto my computers and played with that yet.

Thanks,

Mike
