So i know this is a common issues usually caused by DNS errors that exchange has and I've been through a ton of different articles on the internet including the tech-net forums.
so basically what i've done is set up two physical servers. both running evaluations of server 2012 R2. the first one is the domain controller running DNS and DHCP and a file share.
The second one is going to run an exchange server and maybe something else if i can ever get this to work right.
I've installed exchange 2013 (this was the biggest learning experience I've ever had and i don't believe I've ever had this many issue with anything else ever.) and set up the send connector, the cert, the domain settings, the DNS ip address.
Then I added all the relevant pointers into my DNS server. I had thought this would have resolved the issue but at the time i never thought i had to do anything except set up an A record on the DNS controlled by go-daddy which i purchased my domain though.
I then went to go daddy and input a new host which is the name of my DNS server and then the IP address. waited 48 hours and attempted to configure a name server on the go daddy forums and was told it can't reach my domain.
When i do an NSLOOKUP on battleline.co which is my domain it says domain unreachable and returns 8.8.8.8 which is google public DNS.
When i do a NSLOOPUP on my IP address though it does return my domain.
So i guess my question is does anyone know how to properly set up MY DNS server so godaddy can reach me when i put in my DNS server information or if this is a godaddy problem and i'm out of luck?
FYI i'm setting this up as a lab and i'm only planning on having 5-6 users running for a month or less and this is all for my personal benefit and education. I'm doing it out of my home.
If any other information is needed to assist please let me know.
Edit: i've never made a post on tech-net before so if i'm in the wrong section and a mod see's this feel free to move it!
