We are preparing an Inter-forest migration. The old domain has an Exchange 2010 infrastructure. The domain namespace is TEST.LOCAL and the Exchange Organization namespace is TEST.COM. We are building a new infrastructure and will be using TEST.COM as domain and Exchange namespace. The migration will be done with ADMT.
My questions are about setting up the mail flow between the new Exchange and the old Exchange. I read that you can setup an internal relay during the migration of the users to the new domain. From my understanding all emails would pass through the New CAS
server 2013 then relayed to the old Exchange organization where the user mailbox is located. What will happen once the user is migrated to the new Exchange? The mailbox will be located on the new server. Do we need to do a special configuration on the
new exchanger server to let it know that the user mailbox is located in the new Exchange? Is there a special SMTP connector configuration to do?
