I've recently set up a new home server running (at current) a trial of the Exchange 2013 Server to setup some Exchange Mailboxes to replace the web mail we're currently using via our domain host.
For setup info, I have a home server machine setup with the Domain Controller by itself and my Exchange and Lync servers on their own individual VMs. All running Server 2012 R2.
Everything installed and was set up correctly (ie. no errors thrown out) and linked without hassle to my DC machine and thus Active Directory. Checking the /ecp was able to easily add mailboxes that were auto assigned to my AD users I had set up.
I have also been able to access both /ecp and /owa externally (as in not on the same network) without a hassle at all.
The issue I've found however, mail refuses to send outside of the domain, kind of... I can send without hassle from @domain.com -> @domain.com internally but attempting to email out to external (or receive from external) doesn't work. Some bounce immediately
(my @Hotmail.com account tested immediately bounced), others give 'delayed' responses (my @iiNet.net.au email did this) and others just do not show anything, no failure and no receipt (this was my @gmail.com and my own personal domain as well @korthcore.com).
The odd thing, however, is I can send to my work email address without hassle at all (completely separate) but not receive. The only similarities is that both my home server and the work server are running Exchange. Other than that, they're completely
different networks, completely different domains, completely different locations.
I have checked and triple checked all settings, checked the MX Records to verify they are correct and tried numerous steps as found on the TechNet forums / KBases. Any ideas? :)
