Barracuda Spam Firewall and Exchange 2013 Coexistance

Hi,

My MX records are pointing to my Barracuda 1 and Barracuda 2

and

Barracuda 1 points to EDGE 1
Barracuda 2 points to EDGE 2

 I am using Hardware Load Balancer for Exchange 2013 CAS Servers and there is Virtual IP where all other traffic will be routed.  In cut Over exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, I am planning not to use EDGE servers anymore, So Both Barracuda will be pointed to that Virtual IP of LB on port 2.

set limit for attachment

hi all , 

how can i set a limit for attachment on exchange email for specific group on Exchange 2013 ? 

i need to set the limit of attachment not to be more that 50 MB 

Emails to large Distribution Group are not recieved

Recently migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2013.  A large distribution group (about 1200 entries) is sent email once or twice a week.  All members of this distribution group are contacts with external email addresses.  After the migration emails to this group no longer go through.  Looking in the message tracking logs, I can see messages to this distribution group are flagged as "TRANSFERRED".  Internal mailboxes that are also on these emails receive them without issue.  Apart from that no information in available.

No NDRs are received.

I turned on verbose logging on the send connector via the EMC in hopes to get a better handle on where these emails actually go, but I did not find anything.  It is not clear to me where this might be logged in any case, so I may not have found the correct log or need to turn on more logging (maybe via PowerShell?)

Also set some message restrictions settings to allow up to 1500 recipients in case that was the issue.

As a test today I sent emails to contacts directly (without specifying the distribution group) and they went through fine up to about 700 at once.  I should have another email to send to the entire group later this week.  I have contacted the our 3rd party spam vendor who says that this message is never received by them.  It appears that Exchange gets the email directed to the group and then just ... drops it?

There must be a log somewhere to tell me why distribution group members never get the email because it appears it never leaves the Exchange Server.

Mail flow problem (stucked queue on exchange2013 edge with 451 4.4.0 dns query failed serverfailure)

Hi guys.

Frontend - Exchange 2013 CU10

ExchangeEDGE 2013 - CU11

We see messages in queue on Exchange 2013 edge server with 451 4.4.0 error and can not figure it out why they dont go thru

We have tried solving it going on Exchange 2013 FRONTEND under send connectors.
We have choosen there send connector EDGESYNC - from SITE to INTERNET and marking: Use the External DNS lookup settings on the transport server.
And restarting transport service on Exchange2013, but the problem remains the same.
Please help

Delivery report shows status of Pending for external address. Email sent to both internal and external addresses.

We have an Exchange 2013 on-premise server and seem to have an issue with emails sent to internal and external users at the same time.

The issue came to light because someone sent an email to 44 recipients, of which one was internal. None of the external recipients received the email. I checked the delivery report in the EAC and found the internal email marked as 'Delivered' and all of the external ones marked as 'Pending'. I checked the queues and there were none. I did some testing and sent an email to just one of the external addresses on the list, it arrived. I tried sending the email again to all of the recipients, the external ones all showed 'Pending'. I tried it again, but this time excluded the internal email address and all of the 43 external emails were immediately delivered.

So it seems that the issue only arises when we are sending to both internal and external addresses.

I then tried a test email to one internal address and one external address. The Delivery report says that the internal address was delivered immediately, while the external address is 'Pending' and gives more information saying: 'Message delivery is taking longer than expected. There may be system delays. For more information, contact your helpdesk.'. To add further mystery to this, the email was actually delivered.

So, I have two concerns:

First is seems that some emails sent both internally and externally are only arriving internally. This is a huge problem because I don't know how many have been affected. There may be many lost emails we don't know about.

Second, it looks like I can't trust the delivery report. It says pending for some emails which didn't arrive, but it also says pending for some which did arrive. That is no good at all.

For info the server is running Windows Server 2012. I have run a Microsoft Update to check if there are any to apply and the only Exchange one is a spam filter update, which I doubt has any bearing but I will apply when I get chance.

Hi guys.

Got exchange 2013 which has 600 messages stucked in queue and aint goin anywhere.

Already restarted exchange transport service and they are still there. Even tried with SUSPEND and RESUME and they aren't goin anywhere.

How to push them?

Maximum Recipients When Sending From a Distribution Group Address

We have the maximum number of recipients set to 30 to discourage spamming but we sometimes make exceptions for higher profile users. This usually works no problem to bypass the 30 recipient restriction on a per user basis but we recently ran into a situation where a user needed to send as a distribution group and although the user had the max set higher, when sending from the distribution group address, it still failed stating that there were too many recipients until I change the organizational setting. Is there any way to allow a user to send to more than the organizational setting when sending as a distribution group address? Thank you in advance for your time!

chnage the Exchnage 2013 Message attachment size

Dear all , 

 we want is to allow 15 MB attachment size and 20 MB message size for all users except  one group who need 45 MB attachment size and 60 MB message size for both internal & external communication.

what i have done is the blow :

Organization transport settings - 100 MB

Rule is 'If the message...The message size is larger than or equal to '20 MB (20,971,520 bytes)'
and has an attachment that's larger than or equal to '15 MB (15,728,640 bytes)'
Do the following...reject the message and include the explanation 'Message / Attachment size exceeds limit' with the status code: '5.7.1'

'user mailbox -> mailbox features -> Message Size Restrictions' - 60 MB

and still have problem with attachment

please let me know what i need to remove or tune on the above to fix the issue .

When I open my outlook.com account, this pops up and says it needs a password and is not updating my emails. I did recently change my password, but why would outlook be using a Hotmail account to get my password?   is this  snt405-m.hotmail.com  right or some scam?

limit attachment size exchange 2013

hi all , 

i have exchange 2013 installed and i have one distributed group i need them to send each other and receive message from outlook and owa with attachment more that 50 MB  , i have changed the Organization Transport Setting and this cause all to send more that 50 MB not only the group .also i have run the below command to change the Maxsend and MaxReceive for the distribution group and still they are not able to send more than 30 MB . any idea how to allow distributed group on exchange 2013 to send and received message with 50 MB attachment from Outlook and OWA

Incoming mail size problem

Exchange 2013 installed on Server 2012r2.  We use POPcon to retrieve our messages from our host.

The problem we have is receiving messages 2mb or larger.  All other messages are received without any problems.

I have updated the receive connecter(s) limit to 500mb and each mailbox to 100mb.

Grateful for any help.

New Exchange 2013 can receive ok but will not send mail to the internet

Hi All,

I've recently installed EX2013 and when I tested mailflow I can send mail into our EX2013 mailboxes but for some reason I

The last endpoint attempted was 2404:6800:4008:c01::1a:25'

Providing the send as access rights for a user from powershell

Hi,

I have requirement of providing grant right permissions for a mail box account using power shell script. Below was the code I am using

Cannot connect Outlook to now working Exchange 2013

Well mail is now flowing, but Outlook 2013 fails to connect. Well it sets the profile up fine but when I fire up OL it "says "Cannot start MS Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened"

Does anyone have any ideas please?


Duplicate HTML disclaimer signature

I have added a picture as a signature by using html in the disclaimer transport rule by appending the following

I added exception for messages that have the words RE: or FW: to solve duplicate signiture problem, but sometimes users remove these words from the subject and the result is double sign.

Is there any way to add exception if the message already have the html signiture ??

Sending Spam message

Hello

Since couple of days my External IP is being blocked by 'Spamhaus'/CBL saying my exchange server is sending spam.

Since we have only few users in system, i check there sent box and did not find anything suspicious.

Then i checked MSGTRK log on exchange server.

There i found couple entries which are surely spam, but i do not know how they are coming to exchange server.

Couple of things in logs:

  • recipient-address is having my email domain but no such mailbox exist (for e.g -MeierUlf61797@sanketindia.in)
  • source says: SMTP and even-id says HAREDIRECFAIL
  • sender-address are also not known to me. 
  • How do i know who is sending this spam out of my exchange

are these are incoming mail or outgoing? If incoming then Spamhaus

Troubles with Transport Rule and AttachmentProcessingLimitExceeded predicate

Hi All

We have a lot of transport rules and one of them with predicate:

Name              : AttachmentProcessingLimitExceeded
LinkedDisplayText : when an attachment processing limit is exceeded<a id="AttachmentProcessingLimitExceeded"></a>

How co configure Limits for This Predicate or Transport for processing? ( We have a lot of messages with false positive )

automation of transport rules creation - check message header fields

hi everybody,

i am trying to create another transport rule on an exchange server 2007 in powershell.

this rule is supposed to check the mail header for certain texts. in that case it should forward

the message as bcc. it is part of a bigger script to automate the creation of project mailboxes.

it does not work as intended as i get another error like

...Cannot convert the "System.Object[]" value of type "System.Object[]" to type"Microsoft.Exchange.MessagingPolicies.Rules.Tasks.HeaderName".

any ideas how i can convert correctly?

Criteria for determining Directionality

Hello All,

I was inquiring about the criteria used to determine the DIRECTIONALITY field (incoming, originating, outgoing) of message tracking logs for Exchange Server 2013.  Unfortunately, the whitepaper (linked below) does not describe this. Any insight into how this is determined would be helpful.    Thanks.
