How to drop 'delivery reports' on specific recipients?

$

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to figure out how to drop 'delivery reports' on 4 specific mailboxes in my org.

I'm running Exchange 2013 at CU11 Patch level.

I've found articles on creating Transport rules for Exchange 2010 and don't want to disable the option entirely on 2013 with this...

Set-RemoteDomain mydomain.com -DeliveryReportEnabled $false

Mailflow > Rules doesn't seem to have anything I can use for 'delivery report' manipulation?

Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Routing Exchange 2013 email to 3rd parties via VPN

$

Hi all;

By default, I am using the default send connector to route all email from Exchange 2013 to all email recipients via internet.  Due to business requirement, I have a site to site vpn link with a 3rd parties company for some kind of resources exchange.  Let's say my 3rd parties business partner email domain is mail.3rdpartner.com, instead of sending the email over internet, I am thinking how possible to route the email to this email domain by a second Send Connector, in this case; all email for them is sent via the VPN link, not instead.

Subject to my information, my business partner is using Exchange 2010.  My thinking is, I need the MX record of their exchange server and put it into my DNS server, this is the first step to do.  And configure the Send Connector to look up this DNS entry if email is for this email domain.

Please let me know if this is correct if anyone know how to do or you have same experience before, and what other setup need consider in my plan?

thanks!

Garbled text on email sent from webserver

$

I have an issue that I'd like to run past the forum. My firm has a custom application that responds to online applicants when applying for jobs online. The application generates the email from a webserver and pushes it through our Exchange 2013 relay server and then to our email gateway. Applicant have responded to our HR dept saying that the email they get has garbled text at the bottom of the email. After doing a little testing I found that the garbled text is actually the disclaimer that is attached to each email that passes through our email gateway. When I address this with the developer he says that it's an issue with Exchange and not his application. I guess that it could be TNEF settings but, I don't want to change anything that's going to upset our environment. Has anyone experienced this type of behavior? The text below is what shows on the email. Any assistance appreciated.

I have an exchange server 2013 that is on the latest cu. Right now when I try setting up external out of office replies they do not get the oof reply. In digging into this I found this in the message tracking log :

The allowedOOFType is set to external but for some reason the reply message is getting dropped. I cannot even search for the reply in the message tracking log on ecp. Would this be because of a rule on my exchange server or would this be an issue due to the configuration on the exchange server?

Receive connector sending bulk emails having issue

Hi All,<o:p></o:p>

We have an Oracle ERP application which sends out bulk emails, I have created a separate receive connector for this , this application sends our bulk notification to all users, but we have found out after sending 10 to 20 emails it stops sending emails and throws our error<o:p></o:p>

On the oracle application this is the error which shows on logs <o:p></o:p>

SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available<o:p></o:p>

i am really confused of where to start from, is the problem from Oracle side or Exchange side? ,i feel it’s from the exchange side because the same application was working fine when we were in exchange 2010 now we have migrated to exchange 2013.<o:p></o:p>

Exchange 2013 and message

Hi,

We have some staff with read-only access for message delivery/tracking in Exchange 2013 via EAC. What we want to do is track an external email e.g.Joe.bloggs@gmail.com and see what mailboxes it was delivered to. We can't work out how to search all mailboxes at once, as we have to select a mailbox to search. Hopefully we're just missing something simple.

I'm aware this can be done with EMS but these staff do/will not have this level of access.

Thanks

Delay in sending internal Email

Hello

Some users are getting emails delayed up to 30 minutes. When i use the message tracking tool, i see that the email was transferred to my DR exchange mailbox.

Delivery Report for  Richard

Pending
12/12/2016 2:05 PM Mailbox1
The message has been transferred fromMailbox1 to Mailbox DR

The mailbox DR server is on our DR site.

WHy is this email transfer taking place when there are no mailboxes on the DR mailbox server? Could this be the cause of email delays?

Edge server 2010 _ single user is not able to receive email from external domains

Hi There,

We have Exchange 2010 Edge server and only one single user "username@domain.com" not able to receive email from external domains.

Error message copied from Event log:
recipient with routing address "username@domain.com" from the Active Directory failed with data validation error. The detail of the error is Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.Recipient.NonUniqueProxyAddressError

Test-EdgeSynchronization -VerifyRecipient "Username@domain.com"
SyncStatus : Inconclusive
RecipientStatus : NotSynchronized - More than one recipient found in target Edge Server and may cause NDR on Edge server. RecipientStatus.ConflictO

1. We have used LPD.exe tool and did not find any duplicate email address in AD.
2. Also checked in through adsiedit.msc and found no duplicate email address.

After we modified the email address of that user "username1@domain.com"  that works fine, but if I modify it back to old email address issues again reoccur.

guys please help, I believe there is a stale entry in Edge server which is creating the issue, but we are unable to locate it and remove that.

Insufficient System Resources

Hi Folks,

I've 2 HUB/CAS Server in my environment that are load balanced.

We also have a Server with Jupiter application installed on it, and when the jupiter server tries to send an e-mail, it got the following message "Insufficient System Resources".

I've check some articles that suggest increasing the memory, increase the volume on which the queue folder exists, but I don't think that it's my issue, because all the other users can send and receive normally.

I'd be glad to hear your suggestions regarding the issue.

Cheers,

Mohamed Waly

Organizational Recipient Limits versus Mailbox Recipient limits

$

I would like clarification if anyone can before I make this change. Currently, we have Recipient Message limits set on a per-mailbox basis to satisfy some recent company policy changes. The default for the company is that no standard user can send to more than 15 people at a time; however, we have a variety of users that are exempt of the defacto limit and can send more.

I had planned to change our: Set-TransportConfig -MaxRecipientEnvelopeLimit

for the Organization and then, instead of manually inputting 15 for the vast majority, I would only input the exceptions on each of their mailboxes. If my understanding is right, that would be fine; however, I'm not entirely sure I understand correctly. I noted here:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124345(v=exchg.141).aspx#Anchor_2

That this exception would only be valid for internal message delivery and that if an executive sent over the organization's limit to someone outside of the domain, they would be put into the 15 limit. . .

So, the question is: Can we set an Exchange 2010 limit to default for 15 recipients for both internal and external mail sent as well as define exemptions for various levels of executives and development groups?

Mailflow Between 2 DAG exchange 2013

Hi Folks,

I am migrating from Server 2008 R2 to Server 2012 R2. All servers are running Exchange 2013 CU 13. I have a DAG01 on Server 2008 R2 and DAG02 on Server 2012 R2. I have noticed an issue when users on DAG01 database emails user on DAG02 database, the email fails to deliver and errors out with.

Remote Server returned '550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired in unreachable destination queue. Reason: There is currently no route to the mailbox database.'

However DAG02 users can email DAG01 users.

I am seeing error in event log on Mailbox server where queue is build up

event 5015

Microsoft Exchange cannot find a route to the source transport server or home MTA server .....  in routing tables with timestamp 11/27/2016 3:03:21 PM. Microsoft Exchange is ignoring the source transport server.

event 5006

Cannot find information about owning Mailbox Server ..... in routing tables with timestamp 11/27/2016 3:03:21 PM. Recipients will not be routed to this database.

I have checked the permission on exchange server object, they seems to be fine with Inheritable permissions checked.

I have restarted transport services across all dag members but no difference

nothing specific show in ExBpa report

appreciate if someone can help me point in right direction to get this issue fixed.

Delivery and forward an email

Hi, I need to set a rule on ECP like this:

if the sender is X and recipient is Y, delivery the email to Y and delivery a copy to Z

I reached the goal with a rule that adds Z in cc to the email, but this is not acceptable because if Y replies to the email, the original sender sees Z that was not in the original recipients list.

Is there a simple way to achieve this? I cannot set rules directly on mailboxes because there are some filters on the object and other parameters, so I have to configure them directly in Exchange.

Thank you

Duplicate Emails received from SQL Reports nightly

Hi All,

Exchange 2013, 2xCAS and 2xMBX DAG.

Client has nightly reports set up to send out from their SQL server using SP_dbsendmail. Since last Wed, they are getting duplicated items received to the members of their distribution lists from one particular job in SQL (at 7.45 am).

The message ID and received time are different (9 mins apart) across the duplicated emails however the client has checked the submission via SQL and only one email is being sent. The ShadowRedundancy feature is enabled.

Can you review the attached redacted headers ('original' email on the right and duplicated email on the left) to advise what may be happening?

Thanks in advance,

Out Of Office Rule not Forwarding mail?

$

Our Organization has 2 email accounts for everyone.

user@companyA.com and user@companyB.com

All mail sent to user@companyB.com is forwarded to user@companyA.com, no mail is left in the Inbox of user@companyb.com

When they Turn on Out Of Office for user@companyA.com they also setup a Rule that says any message Addresses Specifically to user@companyA.com, deliver the email to insidesales@companyA.com.

Sending an email to user@companyA.com then gets forwarded to insidesales@companyA.com.

sending an email to user@companyB.com does not get sent to insidesales@companyA.com

If we setup the Out Of Office for user@companyb.com Account and they also setup a Rule that says any message Addresses Specifically to user@companyB.com, deliver the email to insidesales@companyA.com.

sending an email to user@companyB.com does not get sent to insidesales@companyA.com.

Looking at the Message Tracking I can't see the forwarding rule getting fired for the user@companyB.com OOF.

This happens for a group of people. When I do it on my own, it works fine.

Sending email authentication

When I use power shell to Send-MailMessage from our domain user's email address to any external email address, then I receive "5.7.1 Unable to relay" which is as expected.

Unfortunately, when I Send-MailMessage from domain user's email address to another domain user's email address or the same domain user's email address, the message is sent without asking for username or password.

Please help me to prevent sending any email without authentication in Exchange Server 2013.
