Journaling not working on all emails sent/received

$

I am in the process of completing a migration from Ex2007 to Ex2013. I have created a journaling recipient on a single database (db4). I then setup the standard journal recipient on each of the databases (DB1 to DB4).

I am capturing most email but I know it is not capturing all email. Just by checking some arriving to me via other users internally and a specific external test (from mxguarddog, our spam filter service). As far as I know, all external email other than the test are being captured. When I send an email from my gmail account it is captured fine. When the old 2007 system was doing the journaling it did capture this same test, which is basically to send an email to port 25 of the ip address of the server from mxguarddog.

The received headers look something like this:

Delay on receiving emails

Exchange 2013 running on server 2008 r2 enterprise. Coexistence environment with exchange 2007 environment but the mailboxes in question are on 2013.

Clients are getting delays on emails by hours.

No evidence on the firewall (external device) that the emails in question are hitting the network.

Had an email sent to my exchange server and CC'd to a hotmail email account.  The hotmail account got the email instantly.  The email did have a small excel attachment.

Thanks

Redirect email forwarding for external senders

Hello,

I have recently enabled auto forwarding for many of our users to an external domain. Now the requirement has come to enable auto forwarding only if it is sent from internal users and the external emails should be saved in inbox but should not be forwarded. Please let me know if this can be achieved by a transport rule or some other settings in remote domains. Any advise/suggestion is highly appreciated.

DMARC and DKIM

Hello,

I have a requirement to setup DKIM for one of our vendor. They use some tool to send emails from their environment and use our email address. The issue is not caused when emails are sent to us, but when the emails are sent to other domains.

I checked in Exchange Admin Center>>DKIM and can see our internal domains added there. I don't think we can add an external domain in accepted domains and then generate a DKIM key.

I am new to these requests and may be my questions looks a bit illogical. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Forcing all outgoing mail to have TLS?

$

Hello,

We send all our outgoing mail currently through to a secure content provider. We have one outgoing send connector. We were told we need to force all our outgoing email to require tls. From what we're told by default exchange 2013 tries tls but doesn't require all out going to be tls. I'm not tls expert so I may have my details wrong.

I found this article but wasn't clear what the *.outlook.com was about - https://o365info.com/configure-force-tls-on-exchange-on-premises-environment-settings-of-send-connector-part-8-12-tls/

Our one outbound send connector is called send.ourdomain.com

Can someone give me the powershell command to send all outbound to be TLS?

Thanks.

Outbound server is labelling me as a spammer. Need urgent help to connect to my clients.

My email service suddenly disappeared on Tuesday (legal problems between domain owner and email administrator, not relevant).  I created a new set of emails through office 365, set up by comcast, my internet provider.  They gave me a tutorial on utilizing the admin functions.

I have been trying to send a "new email" message to everybody in my address book (~2000 addresses). When setting up the accounts I was told spam limits were 500 addresses per message, 10,000 per day.  My tutor also told me 900 per hour.

I may have exceeded those limits once when starting.  Since then, I have been going through the alphabet letter by letter having from 50 - 150 addresses per messages. I'm watching the clock, I have been at this for two days and am through letter "p".

I have been blocked repeatedly even though I'm nowhere near the limits. Why?  I unblock and wait a while, then continue.

Edge Transport Server & Existing Spam Appliance.

I'm implementing an Edge Transport Server between MBX and Symantec Messaging Gateway. It's going to be the middle man to re-write headers. My mind is having a seizure on how to understand the setup. Documentation and tutorials assume the ETS is going to sit at the true edge. But I have something before it. Will I still use SMG as the Smart Host to process mail? I've not actually seen the Edge Subscription configuration in EAC to understand how this will flow.

It makes sense how it's setup now with our send connectors. MBXes are listed in scoping. Then the smart host as the SMG is listed. Will the ETS be listed as a scope when I setup the Edge Subscription?

Forwarding Address In Headers

Our company sold a division of the company. Along with that sell 100 users are going. I have to forward all emails for all 100 users to the new companies email address.

I started out with a forward on an account. The issue I'm having is, when I send an email from outsideuser@domain.com, it sends to solduser@sellingcompany.com and forwards to newuser@boughtcompany. But when you hit "Reply All" it has "solduser@sellingcompany.com" along with outsideruser@domain.com. I want to remove or not include "solduser@sellingcompany.com".

I've tried this with a Mail Flow rule that 45% works of the time and I've tried a generic forward and neither do what I want.

Is this something an Edge Transport server could do with rewriting headers and such? We don't have one and my Google searches are bringing up that I need one.

Also, is this something from the originating email rather than anything internal?

Mail Forwarding Issue

Hello,

I have enabled SMTP forwarding using PowerShell for most of our users. When I performed a message trace I can see in the Message Event

Deliver as The message was successfully delivered to the folder: DefaultFolderType:Clutter-Inference Classification Agent.

I am unsure what does it mean. Is this something that causes issues with MailFlow. If yes, any steps to resolve this.

Two Exchange servers with the same e-mail domain in two different AD's

$

Greetings,

We have a Exchange 2007 server that we're migration from, and anExchange 2013 server that we're going to.

Both are in separate AD domains.

So, if you sent an e-mail to someone in company.com it goes through Google spam first, then on to the Exchange 2007 server.

We need the Exchange 2007 server to auto forward any user that doesn't exist on that server,to the Exchange 2013 server, so that once we migrate (move) someone to the newer system, they will still get their mail.

In contrast, we need the same thing to happen with the Exchange 2013 server so that users on that server can still send e-mail back to users on the Exchange 2007 server.

Doing this per mailbox is waayyy too cumbersome for making rules per recipient.

We want the Exchange system to simply send/relay mail for recipients it doesn't possess onto the other Exchange server.

What we don't want, is a loop of endless relaying, where server a sends to server b cause it doesn't have that person, and server b sends it back to server a for the same reason.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi

We have 16 exchange 2016 servers.

I will going to query one of many other send connector.

But I can't query setting input ip address's nexthopdomain.

I try this query > get-transportserver | get-queue | where {$_.nexthopdomain -like "10.10.x.x"}

If I entered real domain in nexthopdomain then query is right.

Strange error...

Hi!

I've just run into an error that really confuses me. Hopefully someone here has an idea what the source of the problem might be.

I created a new distribution group named QA-Mobile. When I try to send mails to the DG from Outlook (2016) I receive '550 5.1.11 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; Recipient not found by Exchange Legacy encapsulated email address lookup' even though the recipient is there and the smtp-address is correct.  When I try sending the same mail via OWA it works fine. (?)

I've also added a second smtp-address QAMobile and that works fine with Outlook.

Anybody got an idea how I can fix this? In over twenty years of being a MCT and Consultant for Exchange I've never run into this kind of problem...

Regards,

Gerrit

Turn off / Disable Default Internal Relay

$

I am going crazy over this, I have dozens on instances of Exchange running, one of the clients complained that he was doing tests and can send email using an SMTP tool without even being on the IP list of the relay connector.

Upon checking I found that if I used one of the accepted domains in the recipient the mail regardless of any connector there or not, would just pass and the email will be sent out. Not only that I can change the sender address to anything. If I use<g class="gr_ gr_545 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del" data-gr-id="545" id="545">any</g> external address in the recipient then it won't work (Need an external relay right...).

I have spent too many hours trying to get this restricted but cannot, because I cannot find a straight answer anywhere. My very straight question here is, is this really by default?

Has anyone overcome this?

Exchange Server 2013 - Messaging.old creation

$

Hey All,

Firstly thank you in advance for any input that I get on this one. Always appreciate others taking the time out to help their fellow techies.

We have an Exchange 2013 Server that is creating Messaging.old folders in "C:\ProgramFiles\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Queue"

I can't seem to find any events in event logs that correlate to the creation of these folders.

The last one I've got is titled 20180626150413 so naturally I've gone into event logs on the 26\06\18 @ 15:04:13 and nothing.

Can somebody let me know what causes the creation of these? My understanding has always been that when the Transport Service falters for any reason it dumps the que into these folders. Recovers what it needs / can and then leaves the copy in the Messaging.old folder should a exchadmin need to recover anything.

However I'm not seeing anything in event logs around these times about the Trasnport Service or otherwise. Could anything else cause it?
