Adding Exchange Servers to Relay Connector stops mail flow

$

Hi - I have introduced 2013 into a 2007 environment

In 2007 we have 2 HUB Servers and each has a Receive Connector to allow permitted servers to send email

All Exchange 2007 Servers are added to both Connectors (for Powershell reports etc)
I have added all Exchange 2013 Servers to the Connector on HUB1 and mail is flowing

NB there is an entry in DNS 'relaysmtp' which currently points to HUB1

If I add the Exchange 2013 Servers to the Connector on HUB2 mail stops flowing from 2013 to 2007
The SmtpRelayToMailboxDeliveryGroup queue grows on the Servers added with error:

LastError : [{LRT=18/01/2014 14:43:16};{LED=451 4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "451 5.7.3 Cannot achieve Exchange Server authentication." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was 2007 HUB Server:25}

The Authentication on each Connector is currently: TLS, Externally Secured
The Permission Groups on each Connector are: Exchange Servers

So currently, if we point 'relaysmtp' to HUB2 (it is a FSW) then the Exchange 2013 Servers will not be able to send email (Powershell reports etc)

Does anyone know how I can add the Exchange 2013 Servers to the Connector on HUB2 without preventing mail from getting stuck in the SmtpRelayToMailboxDeliveryGroup queue?

Thanks

shapi

We are having issues with our 2012 Exchange server. We recently switched our ISP, which caused us to change our forward facing IP addresses. Since that time, we are getting a lot of outbound emails bounced back as deliverable. We have updated our SPF information with our new ISP. Here is an example of an email bounce back

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

Hi,

I have new testing lab to play around with which is starting to drive me insane. I have exchange 2013 and outlook 2013. I can receive emails from external domains but I am unable to send emails internally or externally!

Now I would know what to look at if I couldn't send externally, But not being able to send internally has completed confused me!

anyone got any tips where to start troubleshooting for not being able to send internal mail? Once internal mail works I should then be able to get external mail working as well....

Thanks

Exchange 2013 TransportRoles\Data\Temp filling up disk

$

I have a single multi-role Exchange 2013 server and it would appear that it's not properly maintaining the temp files for the transport service. I still have all those folder locations at their default and the problem folder is c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\data\Temp

I never had a problem with this in Exchange 2007 but I am used to running a PowerShell script nightly to clean up the IIS log files. Do I need to do something similar for this temp folder? Is there a setting I can adjust so that Exchange will limit the size of this folder itself? If I stop the transport service and delete the files here will I lose anything?

Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Exchange 2010 not sending mails externally with SP/Nintex Workflow

Hi,

I'm using Nintex for workflows with SP 2010. Nintex is configured to send mails using exchange. I created a receive connector on exchange 2010 to receive mails from server hosting nintex, however only internal emails are being delivered and no external emails are being delivered neither even showing on the smart host.

The receive connector is configured as custom, I specified the nintex server IP in the network section, used TLS authenticaiton and given permissions to annonymous users.

What I'm doing wrong?

Linux mailserver to Exchange 2013 migration

Hi all

I have a specific question that I am hoping to get some advice on.

I have successfully installed Exchange 2013 and I am able to send email out from it.

We have a set-up whereby we have a webserver than the mx record for our domain points to, based on the incoming email (based on recipient address) it then will either forward on the mail to a linux mail server or the new Exchange server I have built.

Basically we have a problem whereby email sent from an Exchange mailbox to an internal user that does not have a mailbox is bouncing. I know why this is happening but not quite sure how to fix it. Basically I need a rule or send connector (this is what I am not sure on) that will forward the internal email on to our linux mailserver if the mailbox is not located on the Exchange server I have built (there are reasons we will not be migrating all mailboxes so we need this functionality).

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Howto Allow Internal Postfix Server to send Mail to internal Exchange 2013 Users ?

Hi,

we are using an internal postfix server to send mail,
we now want to send mails from the internal postfix server to users at another exchange 2013 server which
is also within the internal network. if we try to do so we run into the following error message:

Diagnoseinformationen für Administratoren:
Generierender Server: mail.ourdomain.com

192.168.21.21 Remote Server returned '<192.168.21.21 #5.7.1 smtp; 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay>'

I tried to setup an new RECIEVE Connector, i added the remote network ip adress to the "remote networks"
but we still get the error message.

How can we manage the following:

Allow an internal postfix mailserver to send mails to an internal exchange 2013 user ?

Note: Every other Mailrelated Servers works perfectly, we can get mails, we can send mails etc.

Hi all,

I can see we can use OWAMailboxPolicy management and setDirectFileAccessOnPublicComputersEnabled $False

but if a user selects “private computer” does this bypass the above setting?

Or

Is there something clever under the hood that recognises the IP address of the computer/device and defers to this setting?

many thanks

I tried to set up external relay on my Exchange 2013 but was not able to do it. I don't know what else to do. I tried these:

Exchange 2013 + Outlook 2013 no domain security symbol green arrow

$

hello,

we have implemented domain security with a few partner domains. With Exchange Server 2010 and Outlook 2013 or 2010 we see as expected the green arrow symbol for domain security in outlook when receiving mails from the partner domains.

In our test environment we have an Exchange 2013 server. Here we see the symbol only when using Outlook 2010, with Outlook 2013 we don't see the symbol.

It seems that only when Exchange 2013 and Outlook 2013 in combination is used the symbol is missing, is this a normal behaviour or what can we do to see the symbol? The mails still coming ciphered and you can see the X-MS-Exchange-Organization-AuthAs: Partner in the header of the mails but no symbol is showing.

Thanks and best regards
Marcus

Exchange 2010 Relay problem with CAS/HUB array servers

$

I have three exchange 2010 servers:

EXCHCAS01
EXCHCAS02
EXCHMB01

The CAS servers are running both HUB and CAS roles. We have an external address exchmail.thedomain.com that uses DNS round robin for SMTP mail. (two external IP's)

I have configured smtpRelay receive connectors so an internal server can relay out as a mailbox in the org. When the email hits CAS01 it relays fine. When it hist CAS02 it fails. Both SMTP receive connectors are configured identically. Both receive connectors were built on the idividual CAS servers.

Any thougths on why this is happening and how to fix it?

Manage Dynamic Distribution Groups

We currently have a Dynamic Group, "All Staff"; I have been asked to remove Contracors from this group and still allow an Exchange account. No Filters seem to offer this option. Does the Dynamic Group only include meembers in the Active Directory Group used to setup the Dynamic Grouop? We use Managed Users for all employees.

If I create an Active Directory Group call Contract, will members be excluded from the "All Staff" Distribution Group?

Is there a better option?

Separate SMTP logging

Hello,

Single Exchange 2013 server, CAS+MBX. Have created a RELAY connector for printers, scanners, applications that send emails. Is there a way to segregate SMTP logging for this particular connector from the rest of the connectors? I can have an additional IP bind to the server, if this will allow to have a separate folder for the SMTP logging.

Thanks.
