Cannot enable custom DSN

Hello,

I am trying to create a custom DSN to send a NDR alerting the internal sender that his/her mail has been rejected due to profanity.  I created a DSN 5.2.9 with the message "Your message appears to contain profanity or unprofessional language - please correct before re-sending"  However, when i try to apply the DSN to the rule I get "The value that you entered cannot be saved because it contains the character "5".  To save this, you must first configure a custom delivery status notification.

What am I missing that would cause the server not to recognize that there is a custom DSN?  Note that from powershell, the server returns the correct message when I enter Get-SystemMessage.

Setting Message Class via Content-Type for Faxes

$

Hello,

I am trying to set the message class for inbound email messages (with a fax attachment) from the internet.  The class that I am trying to set is IPM.Note.Microsoft.Fax.CA.  Exchange 2013 SP1 is being used.

I have a transport rule set up which evaluates criteria on the incoming message, and then sets the Content-Class header to fax-ca.  Unfortunately, even though the content-class header is being set (I can see this is the headers when the message gets to Outlook), the message class is not changing and the message still has the IPM.Note class.

On the other hand, if the transport rule is modified to set the Content-Class to voice-ca, the message class changes to IPM.Note.Microsoft.Voicemail.UM.CA.

So it seems that it works for voice-ca, but not fax-ca.  Is there an Exchange setting that I have missed?  Is there a reason why this wouldn't work for fax?

Thanks.

Internal SMTP to Distribution Group Anonymous

I have an internal SMTP IIS Server that I use to send out emails to customers as well as send internal reports to users and distribution groups. Before we upgraded to SP1 we were able to send to distribution groups and customers without issues. Now when we send internal emails via SMTP to a distribution group we get an error that the email is not authenticated and has been blocked.

Now before you tell me untick the require authentication or allow external users to send to the distribution group anonymously know that I cannot allow external emails to this group. Another thing is the SMTP server is authenticated and sends anonymous emails to distribution groups.

I would like to know how do I send to a distribution group from my internal SMTP without allowing external email to the distribution group?

Hi,

I have exchange 2007

An application is hosted outside company premises but its uses company internal id to send mail to company internal users.

it sends bulk mail to 500 users approx.

Now some users received mail in their inbox & some received in their junk mail folder.

i create a transport rule & set scl value to 0.

there is a content filter enable on hub server where in action tab second option is selected i.e. reject message that have scl value equal or greater to9

now we send mails to 2-3, this time some users received mails in inbox but some users not received mail. when i checked on exchange server, message was rejected for 2 users.

in transport rule one more rule was created for some other mail where junk value set to 1.

please suggest what should i do so that mail will delivered to user's inbox.

Thanks

I need Help and guidance on this problem. I have installed Exchange server 2013 with SP1 on Server 2012. Install Went perfect no error. It on a server with 2 TB storage. 16G memory. Exchange 2013 is the only application running on the box. DNS service is also running on the box. I can see the mail arrive in the mail Box Queue with the Queue Viewer and they would just sit there and then after a 15 to 30 min delay it release the mail to the mail boxes. The only error or warning I am seeing in the logs are the 6002 warning. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

i'm working in my test lab system.

I have 2008 DC with Exchange 2007, 2010 and now 2013.

before installing the 2013 message delivery between 2007 and 2010 worked without issues.

however after installing 2013 message delivery between 2010 to 2007 stopped. 2013 to itself fails. 2007 to 2010 works but not to 2013.

i'm struggling to find all possible causes and solutions. I can't work out all of the 2013 changes to message tracking yet but the 2010 message tracking shows that the ip address of the servers are ipv6. as of yet I have not configured any ipv6 addresses so maybe this is part of the problem or not. i'm trying to deal with the message delivery issue and also look into *how to step-by-step* configure ipv6 too.

question 1: what do I need to look into the issue of the Exchange message delivery failures. then I will have to look into setup ipv6 properly.

Exchange 2007 RU4 -DDL- Source: Agent EVENTID FAIL - need some help

I am having a new issue on my mailserver where most of my DDL's are not being delivered.

I can review the properties of the DDLs and they show the necessary recipientes in the filter.

When I send to them, they do not deliver and I do not get an NDR from the server. I get two events in the Message tracking, the first, Source:STOREDRIV EventID:Receive

the second: Source AGENT EventID:Fail

with that, I cannot find anything that is helping me find why it is failing, where can I look in the logs for more clues?

Creating Rules for Auto Deleting Messages After 30 Days

Hello Exchange Experts, I am hoping you might be able to provide some good stuff for someone new to the environment.

We are running Exchange 2013 in our school district. We mainly have users on Macs with Outlook 2011, Outlook Web App, and some on the PC version of Outlook (2010, 2013 Primarily) We have our head secretary that sends out an email to all users through a Dynamic Group titled "News" that tend to be quite large due to pictures inserted. They aren't necessary to retain and I would like to have them auto-delete after a month or so. What is the best method of creating a rule set or something entirely that would cause these items to be purged?

We have a lot of boxes that are created for Substitute teachers which are never accessed. This causes a plethora of email that is simply just garbage.

Exchange 2013 Delivery Reports - Why does it not show forwarded mail?

We just migrated from 2010 to 2013 and all seems to be working well... We started using EOP at the same time with only a few hiccups.  Our Get-MessageTrackingLog command shows all of our email that was delivered or failed, etc... but when I try to run"Mail Flow -> Delivery reports", it forces me to select a mailbox and I leave the other fields empty - and it only shows emails that come directly to me.  The problem is, I have half a dozen email accounts that are set to forward their email to my exchange account.  None of those emails show up with the delivery reports method - but they DO show up via the powershell get-messagetrackinglog command...

With EOP I can see all the emails if I use "Mail Flow -> Message Trace"... why does it work with EOP, but on our local box - it's nerfed to just emails who specify my direct exchange address?

User receives meeting confirmation during Database Maintenance Window

Hello

I am facing an unusual behaviour which drives me crazy.

A user (it’s unfortunately an important one) receives every night at 02:07 meeting confirmations in his “deleted items” folder.

During this time the Exchange Database Maintenance is scheduled. But I have no idea why this should generate such mails.

I think somehow this maintenance Task sends out a meeting request which is automatically approved by the recipient and the confirmation is sent back to my users deleted item folder.

Someone got an idea what is causing this?

Is Disribution group in use?

Exchange 2013. On-Premise.

Is there a place to find if someone is sending to a distribution group?

I am looking to remove older groups.

I sent to one group; Went to "Delivery Reports"; Selected a mailbox of one of the members; Selected "Search for messages sent to:".  Added the distribution group.

That showed no messages.

Is there a text log I can search for the Distribution name or address?

Mail Flow stalls after 16022 events, then starts again 15-20 minutes later

$

I have an Exchange 2013 CU1 and Exchange 2007 SP3 server in the same Exchange environment, and have recently migrated external mailflow to the 2013 box.   I have noticed that I get periodic delays in inbound mail several times a day.

External mail flow stops for around 15-20 minutes, then springs back into life.

Looking through the event logs I can see multiple informational event 16022's from the ExchangeTransport / Front End services, indicating that various configuration updates have successfully completed at about the time mail flow stops (even though there have been no administrator config changes made).

About 15 minutes later I then see an event 1000 indicating the Transport service is trying to start (even though I can find no sign of it stopping), followed by a load of ESE events starting up the queues, and then mail flow starts again.

I have no idea what is causing this - any suggestions?

Many thanks

inbound messages are having the recipient address rewritten and I want to override this

users. The message then gets routed to a past users mailbox that has an smtp address for each of the past users.  The default address on this mailbox is pastusers@cs2.co.uk.   This was working fine until we put on Exchange 2013.  We now notice that the auto reply doesn't work.  The reason for that is it depends on the knowing the recipient but we've discovered that Exchange is replacing the recipient address with pastusers@cs2.co.uk.  Investigation shows this  behaviour can be controlled by Edge server transport rules.  The thing is although we're running Exchange 2013 SP1 no Edge server has been configured.

The question is then how to override this behaviour so the recipient address remains as per the original?

in case it's not clear here's an example of what I mean.  Say for instance that we still receive emails for Joe Bloggs long after he's left the company. We want to intercept messages to jbloggs@cs2.co.uk, auto reply to the sender that Joe Bloggs no longer works for us and pick up that message in the past users mailbox which as jbloggs@cs2.co.uk as one of its smtp addresses.  What is happening now is jbloggs@cs2.co.uk is replaced with pastusers@cs2.co.uk.

Can we have two or more certificates for differents accepted domains in one Exchange server 2013?

Hello everyone,

We have an on-premises Exchange 2013 server, we have a principal domain.com, and we add an adicional accepted domain domain2.com.

We bought a UCC SSL certificate for our first domain.com and assign it to the services iis and smtp, and everything works.

But my costumer want to buy another UCC certificate for domain2.com. The cuestion: is possible to have this two certificates assigned to the iis and smtp? When we try to assing one certificate this overwrite the other.

I know we can add the domain2.com to the same first certificate and everything works, but my costumer wants to have its two certificates with each domain. Is possible?

Thanks in advance!
