We are getting 9217 error on one of exchange HUB/Transport servers recently. I did cleanup of LegacyExchangDN in AD but still getting the error. We have three Hub/Transport Servers but only one of them populated with 9217 error. Much appreciate if anyone can share how to fix this issue. Thanks !

Support for TLS 1.2 over Exchange 2013 on Server 2012?

Greetings,

We're trying to roll out TLS 1.2 in our test environment and can't seem to get Exchange to work with the protocol.

We've been using this method to enable TLS 1.2 (and disable the other protocols - TLS1.0, SSL2.0, SSL3.0, PCT1.0): http://www.adminhorror.com/2011/10/enable-tls-11-and-tls-12-on-windows_1853.html

We originally tried using Exchange 2010 on 2008 R2, but then I ran across this article saying that it is not supported: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2709167/en-us

We've since tried to set it up with Exchange 2013 on Server 2012. Still no luck. The only time Exchange wants to work is when TLS1.0 is enabled.

I suspect that TLS1.1 and TLS 1.2 are also not supported on Exchange 2013, or that I'm changing the wrong registry keys, but I wanted to find confirmation. I've searched extensively and can't find any documentation leading me to believe one way or the other if it's supported.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Junk E-Mail Options continually reverts to Safe Lists Only

We have five clients on our Exchange server and they are all set identically. One client in her Junk E-Mail Options continually reverts to Safe Lists Only and she loses valuable emails from customers. If she knows that an email comes in for her, she will go to recover deleted emails and find it. Then she will go back to the options and set it back to No Automatic Filtering. The symptom is that she will either be reading the email and it disappears or it will go the inbox and disappear before she can read it. We have missed some critical responses from customers only to find them there. If she doesn't constantly monitor the account this will happen. It is an irregular reversion so it is hard to detect sometimes. We checked to see if there are any rules or filters and we eliminated them all. It is very frustrating. I have read many forums and I find only how to set the options to No Automatic Filtering. We know that process very well.

Hi All,

After migrated to exchange 2013, everything has been working fine for about four weeks than, suddenly  below warning message started to get logged every 15 min in the Event log... Email flow is still OK, no updates or any other changes have been done on the Server. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Exchange 2013 CU8  Mailbox Server  + CAS Server running on the same Hyper-v VM.

The Event Details  “The SMTP availability of the Receive connector Default Mailbox Delivery was low (0 percent) in the last 15minutes."

Tried to increase the mailbox deliveries throttling values by following commands. issue still there

Set-MailboxTransportService -MaxConcurrentMailboxDeliveries 50

Set-TransportService -MaxConcurrentMailboxDeliveries 50

Issue is still there?

Thank you in advance.

basic receive connectors query

hi. this current Exchange 2013 i am now managing have been handed over to me years ago. the receive connectors have been the same thru all upgrades ever since Exchange 2000.

the receive connectors (there are 4 of them; all of having role of "FrontEndTransport"), in the security tab, almost all the authentication boxes are ticked (normal?). in the scoping tab, well only one of four connectors have my servers VLAN in there. the rest have 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255 which i think should not be.

now to test for relaying, internally i used telnet and the mail from using the domain xxx.com which it accepted. so i guess there is no authentication going on before sending an email.

question is, what really should be configured in the security and scope tab of this receive connectors so that my servers/applications can send emails, Outlook users can send/receive internally and from outside?

550 5.7.64 TenantAttribution; Relay Access Denied

Hi All,

we run a 3rd party system that sends emails into Office365.
We authenticate with O365 SMTP servers using our SSL certificate name on an inbound connector.

Occasionally we are seeing the following error message.

550 5.7.64 TenantAttribution; Relay Access Denied

If the email is resent the message will be delivered correctly.
Does anyone have any indication as to the cause or meaning of the error message?

Port need to be open between Client Access server and Mailbox server

Hi All,

We are planing to implement Exchange Server 2013 in our origination in split role model. The  Client Access server and Mailbox server  will be in different VLAN, I would like to know which all  port need to open for the communication and configuration of these roles.

1. Client Access server > Mailbox server (bi-direction)

2. Client Access server > Active Directory (bi-direction).

Mailbox server and Active Directory will be in same VLAN

Also

Firewall > Client Access server required port for Outlook,Outlook Anyware, SMTP from spam filter.

Does the Mailbox server required any access to external network or only Client Access server required.

Event ID 2009 when sending from mail-enabled public folder

Hi.

Whenever a user sends an e-mail from a mail-enabled public folder, we get event ID 2009 in the eventlog on the server.

Here is an example:

[Process:Microsoft.Exchange.RpcClientAccess.Service PID:8508 Thread:21] Error occurred while resolving the Active Directory object for from email address field: '/CN=Mail Public Folder/CN=Version_1_0/CN=e8220731-f0fa-4ddc-8468-b4c0b03fd014/CN=00000000F9EEE5CC0E1CEA4399F554BE45C282950100553B1102F06969459294143534D98B4D0001030A79E30000'. Audit log will not be generated for this case. Exception details:
Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ObjectNotFoundException: The Active Directory user wasn't found.
at Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ExchangePrincipalFactory.FromProxyAddress(IRecipientSession session, String proxyAddress, RemotingOptions remotingOptions)
at Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ExchangePrincipalFactory.FromProxyAddress(ADSessionSettings adSettings, String proxyAddress, RemotingOptions remotingOptions)
   at Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.ExchangePrincipal.FromProxyAddress(ADSessionSettings adSettings, String proxyAddress)
   at Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.COWAudit.GetSubmitEffectiveMailboxOwner(MailboxSession session, CallbackContext callbackContext)

The mails are sent correctly, but transport rules are not applied to them. So as we have some transport rules that copy mails with specific recipients, this is a problem.

The only references I can find to this error are related to not being able to send to the folder, and does not seem to apply to my situation.

Hi,

I need to restrict a specific user to only use OWA for email access (but still has to be able to send and receive), so I can disable POP, MAPI, IMAP, but what about SMTP receive connector? How can I achieve this?

Thanks

Exchange 2010 - Exchange Users Can Reply to Account But Cannot Send to It

I have a strange situation.  I had a user who setup loads of Outlook Rules, and corrupted his iPhone which was connected with ActiveSync.  The only way to get the iPhone to work again was to delete the entire Exchange email account, and start over.  That in turn has created another problem.  Users on the Exchange Server can reply to emails from the account, but cannot send emails from scratch.  They have tried using autocomplete, typing the email address in manually, and using the address book.  Here is an error message:

Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

Our Employee
The e-mail address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's e-mail address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.

Hi,

I have new testing lab to play around with which is starting to drive me insane. I have exchange 2013 and outlook 2013. I can receive emails from external domains but I am unable to send emails internally or externally!

Now I would know what to look at if I couldn't send externally, But not being able to send internally has completed confused me!

anyone got any tips where to start troubleshooting for not being able to send internal mail? Once internal mail works I should then be able to get external mail working as well....

Thanks

Issues with external emails not send quickly(delay) and not received by intended receipients

$

Hi Experts,

Please i need assistance on how to sort out an issue that iam facing at present with the mail flow of external emails

I have 4 exchange servers running on version 2013 and more than 1000 client users who are using the mail service.

However, i have been getting more requests from clients that they have not been receiving mails recently especially external ones. Internally, everything works fine, sending and recieving seem to be no problem. The problem now is with sending & receiving external emails that seem to be block somewhere.

From the Queue Viewer(Exchange toolbox), i can see that under Delivery type option, most are showing DnsConnector Delivery with the STATUS as RETRY & CONNECTING. opening up one message properties(General tab) - sender address rejected: Domain not found;0;CN=internet connector....................................................

Also an error recieved showing message delay and/or DNS query failed with error Error Retry.

Before i forgot, adding on the that, i have realised that on the exhange admin center there are 2 alerts iam receiving promting me to renew my mail dns name(with assigned services-IMAP,POP,IIS &SMTP) which will expire on the 08/08/2015. please advise if this might be the cause or to do with settings on the send and receive connectors under Mail Flow.

Really need assistance on this

Thanks

Kedesh

Message not delivered to mailbox.

hi,

In the SMTP receive we can see an incoming message:
,250 2.1.0 Sender OK,
, RCPT TO:<*********>,
,250 2.1.5 Recipient OK,
,DATA,
,354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF>,
,250 2.6.0 ********* Queued mail for delivery,
,QUIT,
,221 2.0.0 Service closing transmission channel,

- The message is not visible in mailtracker.

- the message is visible in the smtpreceive log and according to the logs everything is fine.

- We have no blacklist in our exchange server 2007.

- the e-mail address of the sender is not blacklisted.

- we use forefront, it's not visible in forefront.

- there is no virusscanner on our exchange server.

Where is the e-mail message? It seems like it's stuck somewhere, but we cannot find out where.

Mail received but server sends back '5.4.7 Delivery expired' mesage

Hello!

I've "inherited" an Exchange 2013 server that for the last month, even tho it receives mail, it sends back to outside senders a message like this, after a few days:

Action: failed
Status: 5.0.0 (permanent failure)
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 5.4.7 - Delivery expired (message too old) 'timeout' (delivery attempts: 0)

Some details I know about the setup:

-there's a Cisco Ironport email filter for outside mail - tech support on that said it's not at fault

-exchange server was upgraded from 2010 to 2013. The old server and connectors still appear in the settings.

-there might be an issue with the exchange server seeing the secondary domain controller as the primary but this is an old issue and might not be related

-get-messagetrackinglog mentions HAREDIRECTFAIL and SEND events for external received email (there's only one server so I don't know why Transport high availability is on)

-mxtoolbox.com doesn't report any problems with my email domain

I would love to know if you have any ideas as to why this is happening!
Thank you!

Issue with Exchange 2003 Server

I have an interesting issue with my Exchange 2003 Server. It was working fine until last Sunday. Late Sunday we noticed that we can not receive an e-mail from a few vendors. We did other testing and notice that we can receive an e-mail from any users except the one who are using Office 365 as their e-mail server.

Any Ideas what might of happened?

Thank you in advance,

Serge
