BACKGROUND
1) I have received a request, or rather and ORDER, to implement domain-secure email (TLS) between my domain and some other external domain.Their side is fully configured and operational.
My side as far as Exchange server is concerned is fully operational. My Exchange Edge is published to the internet through ISA 2006 and this appears to be the genesis of my problem. When i attempt to test my TLS configuration from a host 'outside' of my network (I used checktls.com) i encounter the following error:
[000.389] | Connected to server
[000.777] | <-- | 220 ******************************************************************************************** |
[000.777] | We are allowed to connect
[000.778] | --> | EHLO checktls.com |
[001.150] | <-- | 250-mail.mydomainhere.com Hello [remote ip address] 250-SIZE 10485760 250-PIPELINING 250-DSN 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 250-XXXXXXXA 250-XXXXXXXXXXXXXB 250-AUTH 250-XXXXXXXXXXC 250-8BITMIME 250-BINARYMIME 250-XXXXXXXD 250-XXXXXXE 250 XXXXXXF |
[001.150] | We can use this server
[001.151] | TLS is not an option on this server |
Note the resulting error: "TLS is not an option on this server", even though i know TLS is fully configured, public certificates and all other prerequisites met.
Also note the "XXXXXXA" AND "XXXXXXXXB" gibberish the server is responding with.
2) Now, when i attempt a telnet to my Edge server from a host on the 'inside' of my network, i get the following response:
220 mail.mydomain.com ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Tue, 21 May 2013 10:00:47 +0300It appears all the SMTP verbs are allowed from 'inside' my network. It says in the Microsoft article to disable the SMTP filter on the ISA server and i have done so but this has not helped!
I am seeking for some advice on how to solve this problem. Please note i have already disabled SMTP filter on ISA 2006 enterprise level and publishing rule as advised by Microsoft.
Not sure where exactly this question fits in.
Thanks all!
From the MS documentation it appears that not much is different between 2010 and 2013 and that it is supported, but I was curious if anyone has 1st hand experience in doing so. The reason why we are considering this setup is that our current email compliance software version only supports Exchange 2010 and this will be the portion of our email setup that will be upgrade last due to how many departments are involved in the decision making process for the it’s replacement/update.
Hi,
I am looking restriction for the number of recipient per message on Edge transport instead of Hub transport or global configuration of transport servers.
i.e.
1- When someone within the organization send message to 20 or more recipient internally it should be flow without any restriction. meaning that I don’t want restriction on HUB transport (default Receive connector) or users mailbox.
2- I want to restrict the "20 recipient per message" on edge transport server, when external user send message to 21 recipient its should be received for 20 user as per the restriction and generate the NDR message for rest of user (1).
your help will be highly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have installed Exchange 2013 on my local home pc (yes uses the public ISP) and all the configuration works fine and well.
So this is what I name my local exchange server "something@scubatimes.com" so any one internally on the same domain forest are able to communicate and also able to send the email to other domains like @google.com, @outlook.com and such no issues with that.
The issue is when replying from @google.com to @scubatimes.com, say I have the website scubatimes.com hosted on hostgator and they use POP and not a very big fan of that. So want to know how to change the exchange server 2013 on my local PC to be the default mail handler for all the emails that are incoming and outgoing by the scubatimes.com site. I am thinking I need to use MX records (or something to do with it) not sure how to do it exactly. Would require some assistance tks for the help.
Hi
I am in the middle of Exchange 2013 Migration from 2010. i setup Exchange 2013 server and i moved one test mailbox from 2010 to 2013. but i found that mails are moving only one direction. ie, From 2013 to 2010. do i need to create any send and receive
connectors between two exchange box's. (2010 - 2013). fortunately External mails working
i tried to sent an email from Exchange 2010 mailbox to 2013 mailbox and ii got Delivery delay mail
"
This message hasn't been delivered yet. Delivery will continue to be attempted.
The server will keep trying to deliver this message for the next 1 days, 19 hours and 57 minutes. You'll be notified if the message can't be delivered by that time."
could you please tell me how i can fix this issue.?

Kris
Hi,
I'm having the following issue. We got an Exchange Server 2013 CU1 upgraded from the RTM version running on a Hyper-V VM under Windows Server 2012 (CAS and MB in one server).
The problem is as follows: When a user sends a mail message from Outlook/OWA, inmediatly receives a Read Receipt saying that the user deleted the message without being read. It started when we upgraded to CU1 and even we tried setting up a rule deleting the read receipts originating from our organisation, without results.
What could be generating the issue? Any help in this matter will be appreciated!

Hi everyone,
I tried to make redundant send connectors with 2 internet connections, so that in case one connection down, I can still send and receive mails via the other one. But it's not working as expected.
Here's the scenario:
I think using 2 source servers in only 1 send connector will not work, because mails will be sent by a mechanism like Round Robin, or sort of. So if one server in the connector cannot connect to the internet, mails routed to that server will be stucked there and cannot be sent.
On the other hand, using 2 send connectors, each connector has one mail server, and the connectors have different SMTP cost, will not work either, I think. Because in case the send connector with lower cost cannot send mail to internet, but the server associated with that send connector still up and running, the connector with higher cost will never be used.
The only way that might work is to use 2 NICs and 2 public IPs in only one mail server, so that mails will be routed to the correct server, and might be sent successfully. But I'm not so sure about that.
Sorry for my ridiculous English, but I hope everyone still understand my case. I would like to ask: if I have 2 internet connection with 2 public IPs, how could I configure the mail system so that mails can be sent to the internet when 1 internet connection down.
Thank you all.
Hi Guys
Just done an Exchange 2003 to 2010 migration and cant get the 2010 server to receive new email, I can see this a common problem everyone is having and have looked through all posts and cant find the right answer.
I am able to send email its just the receiving part, I have done the following
I have noticed on my exchange 2003 box there are some emails saying "Messages with an unreachable destination" these seem to be the mails I’m sending
can someone help?
Hey all, I am hoping someone could shed some light on this issue.
Long story short, (I know this is a 2013 forum but I am doing this on 2003, I still hope someone can help)
I created an email alias for one user (intern) when that user was finished I tried removing it from that user and adding it to another user....exchange allowed me to do this and did not give any errors.
However,
Now it seems exchange thinks that alias is still attached to the old user and as such does not route to the new intern and does not give any error when sent to that address. Is there any way I could fix this?
Thanks a lot!

Dear All,
My Customer need to disable User Account and Mailbox in Exchange 2007. After disable both, they need to do forwarding message from disable mailbox to another mailbox(Boss's Mailbox) for tracking. Then I set transporter rule for choose rule "Blind carbon copy (Bcc) the message to..." for forwarding message to their manager but that messages can't forward because mailbox was disabled.
Do you have another way help about this requirement? If my customer need to disable User Account and User's Mailbox of resign person and then forwarding that message to their manager
Thank you very much
Hi,
We have 5 CAS 2010 behind the load balancer. Everything works fine. SOmetime we are getting event ID 7011 in system logs with below description on any of the one of CAS server and user's outlook 2010 get disconnect.
"A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the MSExchangeAB service."
"A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the MSExchangeRPC service."
We have statically configured end point mapper port 8000 & 8001
What are the factors which affecting this issue?
Is this issue related to Exchange 2010 SP3 or Windows 2008 R2?
Thanks

New 2013 implementation... Two Servers (Front End and Back End) both running Exchange 2013.
I am having trouble sending a local AD Exchange mailbox mail to external SMTP address. I have tried several options.. I have created an "contact" as was required in previous versions. I have created new AD accounts with external SMTP addresses, I have also attempted to use the scriptlet:
Set-Mailbox -Identity "%AD-USER%" -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $true -ForwardingSMTPAddressexternaluser@mail.com (%AD-USER% was actual AD Username/mailbox) andexternaluser@mail.com was actual receipient SMTP address (username@gmail.com)
Local AD Mailbox receives the mail appropriately however I have enabled forwarding everyway I know how and nothing seems to work. If I send mail straight from my account to the destination SMTP address, they get it; just not if it is sent to the local AD account then forwarded via -DeliverToMailboxAndForward command...
Please help.. I have several users that I need to have their mail CC'd to an external SMTP address.. Previous versions of Exchange required a "Contact" to be created and then the mailbox forwarded to that contact, which had a SMPT mail address...
Im not adverse to implementing via powershell if I can just get it to work... Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and needed.
We are a school district and need to prevent to our students from being able to receive email from outside our district.
IE, no internet mail.
I am already aware of the "users must be authenticated" trick but I know there is a better way to do it. We set it up for our Exchange 2010 server years ago but I can't remember how. Our students now do not have the "users must be authenticated" checkbox checked, and do not receive external email so I know it can be done another way.
If I remember right we might have done it in Exchange 2010 with the anti-malware somehow?
I have two cas server and two mbx srv with win 2012 os -exchange 2013 cul1.
I have configured round robin for high availability for cas . My question is how natting is possible for two servers if i am using roudrobin . I don't have two public ip .
can we configure windows nlb and do nating on the array ip.How its going to work because we cant create cas array in exchange 2013..
For round robin -my A record i create is mail.abc.com and point the same name to both cas. Internaly its working. So if i am creating WNLB what name i need to create...how its going to work?
thanks,
